Cricket Resume - Paul Hyland

Brief Statement

I am an opening bowler with excellent pace and good control. I am a genuine wicket taker.

I spent most of my Junior Career as a bat and handy bowler, but on changing to Mt. Waverly I found myself as a middle order bat and opening bowler. Since then I have managed to post a number of high 50’s when given the opportunity with the bat and on a number of occasions taken 5 wicket or more in an innings as an opening bowler. I am considered as one of the quickest bowlers in the competition.

To me cricket is a way of life and one in which I gain great pleasure.

Current Career With Mt. Waverley

Currently I have played over 100 games with Mt. Waverley Cricket Club.

Most of these games have been played in the 1st Eleven at around 60 games and the majority of the rest in the 2nd eleven.

I started at Mt. Waverley as an 18yro and played my first 1st Eleven game in the same year.

I also have had the honour of playing in the semi final in the 1st’s in 1997. The first time we had made the Semi finals for over 15 years.

What I can offer a club

In the line of playing, I can offer quality and experience as an opening bowler with genuine pace. Also I can offer my services as a free flowing run scoring middle order batsman and an excellent fieldsman in close and in the outfield.

In other lines I am a leader in the way I go about the game of cricket and my work ethic, on and off the field. I can offer good advice to any younger players that might need or seek advice.

Extras that I can offer

I am the type of person who loves to be involved around a club. I attend all social function and am always willing to assist in anyway that I can, even if that is by helping out with a side that I am not currently playing in.

I am a current committee member at Mt. Waverley and enjoy getting involved in all sides of a cricket club, on and off the field. I also help out with the juniors and am also an assistant coach of the RM Hatch Squad (Under 14’s Rep Side), which made the finals for the first time in a number of years in the 2000 / 2001 season.
